Textbook Maintenance Initiative

Schools in the displacement camps of Al-Jawf and Marib are facing a significant shortage of textbooks, forcing students to rely on used and damaged books that are passed from one student to another throughout the academic year. This situation continually leads to the deterioration of textbooks and limits students’ ability to benefit from them. As a result, many students living near the Rawafid Foundation for Sustainable Development office frequently visit seeking support to repair their damaged books.

In response to this growing need, the Foundation is currently implementing the School Textbook Maintenance Initiative, which aims to improve students’ access to usable learning materials without creating additional financial burdens on displaced families. The initiative involves receiving damaged textbooks and repairing them through a volunteer team using simple tools such as covering, gluing, and reinforcement. It also includes awareness activities designed to promote a culture of caring for and preserving books within schools and displacement camps.

Through the ongoing implementation of this initiative, the Foundation seeks to enable students to continue their education with higher-quality textbooks, enhance the overall learning environment in the camps, and strengthen the spirit of community responsibility among both students and volunteers—ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of the initiative.
